An assurance that Tenby would not lose its cottage hospital was given by Mr Norman A. Ball, group secretary of the South West Wales Hospital management committee.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the opening and dedication of a patients day room, Mr. Ball, said: “There have been rumours circulating that the hospital is to close, but I know of no justification for those rumours. As far as I am aware there has never been any suggestion of closing Tenby hospital.
A Fordson Major agricultural tractor with trailer attached, rolled down a slope at Redberry Bay in Caldey Island. It was valued at over £1000. Attempts were made to recover the tractor which was less than a year old, using the monastery’s ex- WD DUKW, but without success.
A couple wellknown on Tenby’s harbour side were admitted to hospital after falling into the sluice. The tide was out at the time. The couple were sitting on railings near Tenby Sailing Club premises when the accident occurred. The lady slipped up and she and the man who tried to grab her, fell onto the sand. They fell about 10 or 12 feet. The man escaped with only shock and a minor head injury, while the lady suffered six broken nbs and a collar bone.
Bank holiday jalopy racing at Penally brought complaints from residents who lived close to the field in which the meeting was held. In letters to the Parish Council, they alleged nuisance from dust, exhaust fumes and noise.

Attendants were Christine Daniels, Susan Hart, Helen Cumpsty, Lynette Daniels, Deborah Butland and Alison Cumpsty.
Carnival Queen at Tavernspite was Miss Jennifer Bevan and her attendants were Elaine Webb, Jackie Smith, Angela Brace and Jane Morgan.
