Pembroke Dock Men's Shed had a surprise visit last week from the home of Men's Sheds... Australia (writes Des T). John Williams, a member of Goroke Men's Shed, from West Wimmera, Victoria, ventured to the western tip of Wales whilst in the UK for a family wedding. John presented a lovely key holder as a gift to the group. Goroke Men's Shed make these from sheep shearing machine heads, fixed onto local wood. We were very encouraged by the visit and John shared many ideas for future Men's Shed projects. Travelling with him was Ros, an artist, who kindly gave us one of her miniature paintings of a typical Australian bush scene. Both have Welsh roots and we're so glad they still have the pioneering spirit that brought them to Pembroke Dock. A return visit would be lovely! Work on our Men's Shed is progressing well and we are very grateful to Parfitts Carpets for providing and fitting out our floor coverings and to Kingswood Enginering for making us a workbench. We have one more room to decorate and plan to have an Open Day in the near future. lf anyone has any workbench tools they would like to donate, please contact the secretary, Dave Lambourne, at [email protected]">[email protected] or phone 07968713749.
