AN ambitious 37-mile journey began as a simple conversation one evening where Rev’d Hannah Karpaty said that 2025 is her 40th year and instead of birthday presents in May, she wanted to raise funds for the Carew Group of Churches.
Rev’d Hannah is responsible for St Mary’s Church Redberth, St Mary’s Church Carew Cheriton and St Michael and All Angels’ Church Cosheston - all in need of essential maintenance which comes at considerable cost.
Hannah, along with friends Claire, Fern, Rob, Julie and Mike, decided on a sponsored walk of 37 miles starting in Redberth, visiting all three of the churches they are raising funds for and finishing in St David’s Cathedral. The walk will take place over two days; starting on Saturday, May 17, with an overnight stay in Broad Haven Youth Hostel before reaching its destination on the Sunday.
“Training has already begun,” said Hannah. “So far we have walked from the Vicarage to St Mary’s Church Carew Cheriton and Carew Castle; St Govan’s Chapel to the Green Bridge of Wales; and Stackpole Quay to Bosherston to see Church Rock.
“The walk is a journey in the physical sense and a spiritual journey for all participants. We are sharing updates on Facebook and Instagram so if you would like to keep an eye on Our Journey, please follow us.”
