THIS year is Kilgetty AFC’s centenary year. Few grassroots football clubs have reached this milestone, and thanks to a Kilgetty AFC Centenary Celebration Primary Sponsorship offer from Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, celebrations can go ahead.
They kicked off with the Junior Football Festival on May 6, with over 700 children participating.
Stepaside School, Led by Kilgetty AFC Secretary Sharron Hardwick, took part in a ‘Design a Centenary Poster’ competition, the winning posters are on display in the village and at Kingsmoor Sports Club.
Kilgetty AFC will join Kilgetty and Begelly Village Fete and Dash For Ash, on August 25. This will be followed by a week of inter-team Kilgetty AFC football matches.
This month, to celebrate, the club is visiting local pubs including the Begelly Arms - a regular Kilgetty AFC supporter, providing car parking at Junior football Festivals.
The main event will be the Centenary Celebration Dinner, with guest speaker Neville Southall, live music and a magician, in a marquee at Kingsmoor Sports Club field on August 31.
A display of photographs, documents and memorabilia will be shown in Kingsmoor Sports Club on September 1. Kilgetty AFC are selling centenary-branded memorabilia; with a Centenary Book being compiled to mark the occasion.
Beyond The White Line sponsored Kilgetty Senior Men’s First Team Centenary Kits, with New York Welsh sponsoring Kilgetty Girls’ kits.
Gold sponsors Cleddau Financial Services have provided ongoing sponsorship over the year, with RWE, Scaffold 200 and Valero supporting through the Silver Sponsorship Packages, and Puffin Cottage Holidays with Ascona Group supporting Bronze Sponsorship.
