A 15-year-old boy from the Kilgetty area has organised a sponsored haircut later this month for two vital charities.
One of the charities that will benefit is the Little Princess Trust. The charity has been going 20 years, providing free real hair wigs to children and young people up to the age of 24, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
A pupil at Redhill High School, Haverfordwest - Luca Davies, of Begelly - has been growing his dark red hair long for this purpose. On April 25 he plans to undergo the haircut and, with your help, raise lots of money for an amazing local cause close to his heart.
The Paul Sartori Foundation is a Pembrokeshire Hospice at Home Service. It offers free specialised, home-based, supportive care, equipment and advice for those in the later stages of any life-limiting illness.
Luca’s journey with Paul Sartori began with 15 hours of volunteering with the Duke of Edinburgh Award. But it didn’t stop there - he loved it and continued to volunteer with the end-of-life charity. Now he says it’s so important to raise some money for them and give back to the community.
On his JustGiving page, Luca says:
“I had volunteered at Paul Sartori from January 2024 to January 2025 and learned many important things while working there. Being a member of Paul Sartori showed me what it means to help the community, and watching items which were once loved go to an equally loving home was truly special.
“The money which is raised will go to Paul Sartori, and my hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust; I hope you can find it in your heart to spare some money, and help me make a difference in people’s lives!”
“For the last few years, I have been growing my hair in hopes of it going to a good cause. I decided that the Little Princess Trust would be the perfect charity to donate my hair to,” he added.
The Little Princess Trust says: “Donating your long locks to help children and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss is an incredibly generous thing to do.” If you’re inspired by Luca’s actions, be sure to visit www.littleprincesses.org.uk/donate-hair to find out more.
One month before the event, Luca’s Sponsored Haircut for Paul Sartori Foundation Hospice Care had already raised over £500. But with the help of Tenby Observer readers, that total could easily be doubled! Visit www.justgiving.com/page/luca-davies-charity-haircut to support this young man’s cause.
Joanne Lutwyche, Community Fundraising Officer for Paul Sartori, said:
“Luca, who has spent 12 months volunteering in our Narberth Sartori Store, has already supported the charity with his valuable time. By undertaking this sponsored haircut and raising more vital funds, Luca highlights the importance of young people’s support of our local hospice at home charity.
“We rely on fundraising efforts such as this to keep our clinical services operating for free for families in Pembrokeshire.”
