This year sees the 40th Anniversary of the opening of the New Penally Village Hall. The new hall replaced an old wooden hut that had stood for many years.

In 1978 the decision was made to replace the old building and fund raising began in earnest, including a sponsored parachute drop! In 1983 and 1984 the old building was knocked down and the current splendid hall was built, largely through the efforts of villagers.

The anniversary was celebrated with an exhibition by Penally History Group, including the village scrapbooks which were started by Jane Davies in the 1970s. Tea and cake was served and the celebrations continued into the evening with an ’80s themed event.

Penally Village Hall is still well used by community groups and those from further afield. To make a booking, call Mavis on 01834 845345.
