When we met him, we knew nothing of his story but, thanks to the members of Pembroke Dock & Pembroke Citizens Forum on Facebook, Ed’s recent adventures have been pieced together.

The lovely teddy, renamed Ed by forum members, was among some items being taken to the ASDA clothes bank by a lady and her children. They couldn’t fit him in, so he was left next to the bank.

Unfortunately, he didn’t stay put, and he was soaking wet when a greyhound called Caspar, snuffling around in a hedge on a long lead, fished out the teddy.

Teddy Ed is proving quite a hit with dogs, but he was in too sorry a state for Caspar to take him home.

Instead, the greyhound’s owner sat Teddy Ed on the bandstand bench to dry, where he remained for a couple of days and nights.

But when a kind soul called Sue saw that the bear was being tossed around and becoming partially de-stuffed, she took him home to avoid any further harm coming his way and do some minor repairs.

Once the teddy bear had completely dried out, She gave him a sanitiser wash with wipes.

“Luckily I have lots of pillow stuffing so I shall pad him out a bit!” she said.

“He is in very safe hands now. Once I have patched him up, a home will be found for him.”

After she learned a little of his history, she added: “I am so pleased to know something about him and that no-one is in distress.”

Sue’s plan is to take care of Teddy Ed until Friday (today), then take him to Greenacres Charity Shop in Dimond Street, in the hope of finding the bear a new loving family.
