ST ISSELL’S WI members met earlier than usual for the June meeting when books, bags, scarves and plants were brought along to swap as part of Green Week. Items that were not swapped went to various charities.

President, Diane Rigden, welcomed ladies to the June meeting with a special welcome to Diane Massau and her friend Charlotte the demonstrators for the evening.  Diane and Charlotte had brought along several quilts they had made over the years, and Diane gave information on American quilting and the type of quilting done in the Isle of Man and Wales.

Everyone marvelled at the wonderful and intricate work in the quilts. The ladies gave lots of information on the way they did their quilting and answered many questions. Diane Rigden thanked both ladies for a wonderful evening.

Shirley Will was thanked for the flowers for the top table. The ladies who had attended the Annual Meeting in London said they had thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was agreed to send cards to the WIs who were celebrating significant anniversaries. This month’s competition winner was Pat Poole, and Joy Nixon and Madelene Brace were the lucky raffle winners.

Diane wished ladies a safe journey home looking forward to the July meeting of the Saundersfoot-based St Issell’s WI. This will be a strawberry evening tea with entertainment.
