A beautiful sunrise lit up Tenby as worshippers gathered on Easter Sunday for a dawn service at the bandstand on Castle Hill.
‘Picture This’ Tenby Observer photography club members Lucy Crockford and Roz Oak were on hand to capture some of the magical scenes that accompanied the resurrection celebration in the historic town on Pembrokeshire’s coast.
Rev’d Steven Brett said it was “great to sing the Lord’s praise as the sun was crowning the horizon!”
Later in the morning, a joy-filled Eucharist service in the St Mary’s Church incorporated a baptism, and at 5pm the church hosted an Easter Festival of Praise.
St Mary’s Church leads the Rectorial Benefice of Tenby - a collection of churches who strive to serve local people and also the many thousands who visit each year. The church belongs to the Diocese of St Davids in the Church in Wales and offers a warm welcome to people of all backgrounds and traditions.
St Mary’s Church believes that church life should be enjoyable and exciting, and that the church is a great celebration of God’s love, a celebration into which everyone is invited through Christ’s death and resurrection.
Providing a variety of services in styles to suit different tastes, from the formal and traditional through to more modern and youth-orientated worship, but always acknowledging its Anglican heritage, Tenby’s parish church has a strong commitment to children and young people, to pastoral care, to lay ministry and to its strong musical tradition.
