TREES and the part they play in defining the landscape were highlighted in a slide show and talk by Rob Llewellyn Davies at Summerhill WI’s October meeting.

Vice President Hilary gave a warm welcome to the speaker, also new member Sue Cale, guest Margaret Llewellyn and all members.

During the slide show, Mr Llewellyn Davies showed many local areas that were hidden from sight amongst woodland and ancient forests. Following a vote of thanks from President Marilyn, refreshments were served with the raffle being won by guest Margaret.

The meeting continued with apologies noted and thanks given to Hilary for the table flowers and ladies for food bank donations. Members sent get well wishes to Kay following her recent eye surgery. Congratulations were given to Marlene’s grandson, Jay who finished the Pembrey cross country run in second place and will represent West Wales in Newtown in November.

Upcoming events were discussed including the meal at Noble Court on Thursday November 28; names and payment to be collected at November’s meeting.

Summerhill WI will be holding a ‘coffee, cakes and chat’ event in their hall on Friday, December 6, 2pm-4pm to include a festive raffle, all are most welcome.

The 2025 programme and outings were discussed and bookings are in hand. Members are reminded to bring their motto to the November meeting.

The next meeting will be in Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill on Monday, November 11 at 7pm when the speaker will be Susan Gould talking about her collection of miniature dolls; hostesses to be Margaret and Susan Evans.
