There was a fine to pay, but no further penalties, for a Kilgetty teenager who admitted to driving an uninsured vehicle at Sageston after magistrates heard special reasons.

Before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on November 7, the 18-year-old from Kingsmoor pleaded guilty to the offence committed on March 9.

Magistrates found on the balance of probabilities that the teen had an honest belief with reasonable grounds in that he cannot read; neither can his mother, so he had asked his sister to sort the insurance on his mother’s car to allow him to drive it. He checked before using the car and was told yes it was insured.

The fine was set at £550 plus £220 surcharge and £85 costs.
