Cadw’s May half-term schedule offers unique local activities for families to enjoy and bring Welsh history to life.

This Saturday and Sunday (May 27 and 28), experience the thrill of seeing magnificent birds of prey up close at Laugharne Castle’s falconry event, 11am-4pm with daily displays at 12 and 3pm at the historic Carmarthenshire coastal landmark.

Then on May 31 and June 1, 10am-4pm, families can be transported back in time with music from Minstrel Tom at St. Davids Bishop’s Palace in Pembrokeshire.

Learn about the instruments and style of music from the 12th century while roaming the walls of the palace’s remains. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet two significant figures in the history of the site, listen to their stories and discover their roles in the rise and fall of the palace throughout time.

The half-term break kicks off Cadw’s Summer of Stories – a celebration of Wales’ rich oral traditions across 12 sites this summer. 

During your visit to any participating Cadw site, join a storyteller to experience the best of Welsh tale-spinning, including historical characters, legends, myths, culture, and heritage. Take a moment to relax and enjoy listening to a 30-minute historical tale in between your exploring.
