Tenby and District Arts Club: This Friday, January 20 at Tenby Arts Club, Michelle Fecci-Evans will be talking about her experience in the Great British Bake-Off. Everyone is welcome, it starts at 7pm in St Johns Church Hall, Warren Street, and refreshments afterwards are included in the very reasonable entrance fee.

The Great Winter Get Together

This continues this week, ending on January 29, and is a way of encouraging everyone to join together with people as a bit of socialising is good for all of us. Around Tenby and the area, there are lots of Warm Spaces that are free to go to and everyone is welcome to come along. These are great places to arrange to meet friends, or just to pop along and see if you meet someone new or old to chat to or share an activity with.

The Railway Children Return

This film will be shown by Films4Tenby at the De Valence Pavilion on Tuesday 24th January. Doors will open at 6.30pm and the film will start at 7pm. The film takes up the story 40 years after the original film, with Roberta taking in evacuees during the second world war. Everyone is welcome to come along, and there is also the possibility of having a pre-screening two-course meal at the fuchsia Café – book this directly with them. Just come along to the film – no need to book.

International Hug Day

This Saturday, January 21, is International Hug Day – so your challenge for Saturday is to find someone to give a hug to!

Lunar New Year

On Sunday, January 22, the New Year celebrated in China starts. The is the day that the year changes to Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese horoscope. Have a go at some rabbit crafts – how many ways can you think of to make a rabbit – you could draw or paint one, embroider one, make a rabbit stuffed toy from felt, you could make an origami rabbit, a rabbit using a paper plate… what can you think of? You could also use Chinese New Year as a chance to have a Chinese meal, or have a Chinese themed evening with appropriate food, maybe a film, or read an appropriate book…

Robert Burns Day

January 25 is the traditional time to have a meal of haggis, neaps and tatties in honour of Robert Burns, the Scottish poet. There is a poem that he wrote, ‘To a Haggis’, that can be read out as your haggis is brought in. Maybe you could have some bagpipe music, put on the kilt, really have a Scottish evening!

Tenby Food Hub

This is based in the Old Chapel on Lower Frog Street and you can get selections of fresh fruit, vegetables and salad each for £5. Orders went in yesterday, Thursday, January 19, but if you get in touch on [email protected], your order can be added on. The selections will be delivered this Thursday, January 26 by Fresh and Fruity of Milford, and will be ready to pick up from the Old Chapel from 1pm.

Urban Thinkscape Zig zag Project

On Thursday, January 26, a group of Duke of Edinburgh candidates are going to make a start on cleaning the area under the North Walk Zig zag where the arcade used to be. The first stage of this project will be to put a mural on the back wall made up of images contributed by anyone who would like to do one. You can send in a drawing or any image that has a coastal them to [email protected] or drop them in to Tenby Town Council office in the De Valence Pavilion on Upper Frog Street. If you would like to help with this project, and are available on Thursday, January 26, come along to see what is happening and join in if you want to.

Craft with a Heart

There will be a craft session in Augustus Place Community Hall from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, January 28. This is a very informal and friendly craft session, where there will be lots of choices of things to try, or you are welcome to bring along your own crafting to do yourself or share with others who come along. It is a chance to sit around with a hot drink and enjoy a bit of crafting together. The them this month is ‘hearts’ but any crafts are welcome. A donation will be taken to cover rent and materials. Everyone is welcome.

The Big Garden Birdwatch

The weekend of January 27-29 is also the time to join in with millions of people around the country doing the Big Garden Birdwatch. Sometime over the weekend, sit at a suitable window where you can look out over your garden, or find a local park to sit in, and make a count of the number and type of birds you see.
