THE Sunday matinee at Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill on January 26 is ‘Are you there God? It’s me, Margaret’ (2023, cert PG), based on the 1970 novel by Judy Blume.
In the film, eleven-year-old Margaret moves from the city to the suburbs and starts to contemplate everything about life, friendship and adolescence. She relies on her mother, Barbara, who offers loving support, and her grandmother, Sylvia. It was described by one reviewer as “a humorous and thought-provoking exploration of religious identity and acceptance in the suburbs of New Jersey.”
Doors open 2pm for 2.30. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Bring a cushion for your added comfort.
Free tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake are available before the film. This matinee and food is funded by the PAVS Warm Welcome Community Spaces grant.
On Tuesday, January 28, all residents of Amroth Parish aged 18 and over are welcome to attend an annual meeting at the hall.
