A TENBY-born artist whose work was pinned to Taylor Swift's cleaning cart which transported her on stage during her record-breaking Eras Tour says it's been ‘a bit crazy’ since the recognition from the multi-Grammy award-winning American singer/songwriter.
Rachel Rasmussen said she had no idea the singer had a copy of the print painted in 2017, which depicts Cardiff Bay at night in a bright colour palette of purples, blues and yellows, until it popped up on Instagram.
Rachel reckons the US star or her team must have purchased the print when the singer performed at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium back in June as part of the Eras Tour.
“We know dancers from her show came in to get some things from a shop in Cardiff called The Little Welsh Company, said Rachel who also sells her artwork in her hometown of Tenby at The Nook.
“Any souvenir that she could have taken from Wales and she took a piece of my artwork. That’s good enough for me!”
Rachel who started working as a professional artist 10 years ago, says her inspiration started at school in Tenby, where she attended St Teilos and Ysgol Greenhill.
She staged her first ever solo exhibition, ‘Tenby Treasures, Nostalgic Brushstrokes’ at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery earlier this year.
“It’s been so great, sales have been bonkers on my website!” laughed the mother-of-four.
“I don’t know to much about Taylor Swift but I feel like I’ve become a Swifty fan overnight.”
Rachel is encouraging anyone who has ordered or purchased the print that Taylor Swift chose, to take a picture with it when they receive it and use the hashtag #bemoreswifty , tagging @rachelrasmussenart on Instagram.
