Two very different choirs will be taking part in a concert in Tenby next Friday to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance charity.
The concert involves two very different choirs. Serendipity is a ladies choir based in Narberth. It was set up in 2016 initially to bring girls together to enjoy singing and socialising together, with a view to making money for charitable causes in Pembrokeshire in the future. Since then, the choir has grown into 45+ members and draws ladies from all over Pembrokeshire and even from Carmarthen.
The second choir, The South Wales Male Choir or Cor Meibion De Cymru, also has a local connection. This choir attracts choristers from all over South Wales and are taught in local rehearsal groups. The choir was set up in 1982 with the intention of travelling abroad to take the Welsh Choral tradition to other countries. The local group in Pembrokeshire meets in Kilgetty every week. There is also a group in Carmarthenshire and in Cardiff which also meet weekly. Then, once every three weeks, the members travel to Port Talbot to come together with the main musical director of the choir, Rhiannon Williams.
The concert is at St Mary’s Church in Tenby on Friday, July 7 and begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from choir members or at the door on the night.
