What a day that was – the first ‘Falcon Fun Day’ at Pembroke Dock was voted a huge success with many hundreds of visitors flocking to the town’s Heritage Centre.
There to meet them were members of the 501st UK Garrison costuming group, iconic characters from the famous ‘Star Wars’ films, including the ‘Dark Lord’, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and Droids.
There were various Star Wars themed activities culminating in a fancy dress competition which was judged by the ‘Dark Lord’ and the Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Councillor Pam George. Visitors were also able to again view the newly opened exhibition on the building in secret of the ‘Millennium Falcon’ spaceship at Pembroke Dock in 1979.
Mark Williams, leader of the Falcon project who was ‘Darth Vader’ on the day, said: “We had wonderful support from re-enactors from as far away as Essex and Bristol and we plan to make this an annual event at Pembroke Dock.”
Heritage Centre volunteers worked splendidly to make the event such a success and local model groups had displays. Music was provided by DJ Lionel Nutting.
