The community music festival in Crymych has kept its original date, despite other events clashing on the same day.

Three years ago in 2020, arrangements were in full swing for a brand new music festival in Crymych, North Pembrokeshire but - like everything else - Covid-19 disrupted plans. Following further the disappointment of not being able to host the first Festival in 2021, all energies were focussed on the first Saturday of May, 2022.

The first festival was a roaring success, with a 1,000 people enjoying the music event at the Frenni Transport site in Parc Gwynfryn, Crymych courtesy of Matthew Parry and the family. The event was buzzing with live Welsh music as the area welcomed people of all ages from all over Wales to the first Welsh music festival in the hills near the Frenni Fawr.

The Gwyl Fel ’Na Mai Festival committee, formed from local volunteers along with experienced individuals in the fields of music, community and youth work, is now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

The organisers are now looking forward once again to welcoming artists on the first Saturday of next month, May 6, 2023. They appreciate that there are other events on that day but decided to carry on with the community, youth and music focussed event.

There will be two stages again this year, Y Frenni Fawr Stage and Foel Drigarn Stage and the line-up will include Candelas, Bwncath, Gwilym, Mattoidsz, Y Cledrau, Tecwyn Ifan, Lowri Evans, Catsgam, Ysgol Bro Preseli, Bois Y Frenni, Elen a Cerys Hunt. Band Dros Dro and a Folk Music session.

Compere for this year is Iwan John.

One of the original aims of the Festival was to give an opportunity to local talents to perform and these will include Band Dros Dro who won the Richard and Wyn Jones new band competition earlier in the year.

Activities will start in the afternoon and continue until the evening, with the aim of delivering quality entertainment in a community and friendly festival that the the whole family can enjoy which includes activities for children of all ages and plenty of parking facilities.

Tickets and more details are available on line at www.felnamai.co.uk or at Awen Teifi in Cardigan and Siop Sian in Crymych.
