Glastonbury may have mud, but Narberth had gentle rain and wind on Saturday evening, allowing Narberth Jazz to begin their Garden Party at Lampeter House…
Gordon Barry writes:
“We were firstly treated to a wonderful set of music by being entertained by the brilliant group Jassology who, with their talented singer Carol Westwood, kicked off the party in fine style with terrific interpretations from the classic American song book.
“Then we were presented with and enjoyed the music from the amazing Constellation Big Band. This band recreates the sounds of the Big Band era with music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton; Woody Herman; Charlie Barnet and many more. They have an amazing ability to replicate the genuine sound of the famous big bands within their charts.
“The small but enthusiastic audience responded to the impressive renditions presented by our guest musicians.
“Sadly, the big band dress code should have been ‘Colourful Summer’ but the inclement weather resulted in many of the bands having to put on their jackets over their colourful dresses to perform for us, as it was decidedly cool.
“The end of the Garden Party was in weak sun and low wind – wow what a turn up! A brilliant evening which turned out to be a triumph of determination over the dreadful weather promised.
“Narberth Jazz would like to thank Mr and Mrs Williams for allowing us to present the event at Lampeter House for our third season.”
