Pembrokeshire College alumna Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is making waves in the contemporary art scene with her latest exhibition.

‘Going Away in Order to Return’ is currently on display at HaverHub in Haverfordwest. Funded by Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, it’s a deeply autobiographical exhibition, charting key moments in Caitlin’s life through storytelling imagery. It explores themes of travel, mental health, and the emotional connections we form with visual symbols. Viewers are invited not only to engage with the artwork visually but also to reflect on their own memories and emotions, much like reminiscing to the sound of a nostalgic song.

The exhibition at HaverHub marks the beginning of a broader tour, with upcoming stops in Porth and Cardiff, allowing a wider audience to experience Caitlin Flood-Molyneux's evocative work and will be available for viewing until June 26.

Caitlin’s work delves into the intricate relationship between pop culture imagery and the emotional weight of memory. Through a unique blend of found imagery and abstract painterly forms, her pieces explore the subjective experiences of hardship, evoking a powerful connection with the viewer.

Caitlin said: "I feel very humbled to put up an exhibition in my hometown, a very proud moment. I've always been creative since a young age, and as soon as I was old enough to go to College, that's when I started pursuing my passion. My mum was an artist herself, so it's really nice to be able to follow my dream, and College helped me do that as well."

Raised in Haverfordwest, Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is an award-winning contemporary Welsh artist, a graduate of the MFA program at Cardiff School of Art. Drawing inspiration from the visual styles of DADA and early Pop Art, her artistic process often begins with collage, using physical cutouts of emotive imagery, which are then recontextualised and transformed with a variety of media, from oil paint to aerosol. This method allows her to express a range of emotions, from love and loss to grief and anger, creating a reflective and immersive experience for viewers.

She has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally and has recently shown work at Christie’s and Sotheby’s Auction House in London. In May this year, she was shortlisted for the prestigious Forbes 30 and was a delegate at the conference in Botswana.

Through her work – as an artist and educator, Caitlin aims to empower and inspire creatively curious people with arts to see creativity as a tool for personal growth and well-being. For her, art has always been a way to process difficult feelings and she has enormous belief in its therapeutic power.
