Tenby Museum and Art Gallery has welcomed a new curator. David Llewellyn has taken on the role and said he is delighted to be helping to steer the Castle Hill venue forwards.
Originally from Tenby, David has had a lifelong love of both history and the town itself. He studied history with the University of Wales before going on to become a professional archivist.
David has spent the majority of his working life in the museum and archive sector. In more recent years, he has also been engaged locally with PLANED, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the National Trust, all within the field of heritage and culture. He is also well known locally for his history talks to community groups.
“It’s an incredible privilege for me to be appointed to the post of Curator at this truly wonderful Museum and Art Gallery in my home town. We have a great team in place, great ideas and are very positive moving forwards. We are looking forward to new upcoming exhibitions and displays, in particular with the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI.
“Keep a look out on the Museum’s website for new events and activities and come and visit us. If you have some time on your hands perhaps even think about contacting us as a volunteer.”
Currently on show at Tenby Museum & Art Gallery is Brecon Beacons-based painter Dai David’s exhibition ‘Lust for Light’. The show launched on St David’s Day and runs until April 20.
A trained opera singer and pianist, Dai David’s subject matter ranges from the fabulous beaches of his native Wales, to beautiful, intimate moments, expressing his love of life, light and music.
“My aim is to reveal both the beauty and delight experienced when enjoying a light-filled scene. With my use of colour and application of paint I seek to express the very essence of an atmosphere, be it an idyllic moment of solitude or a joyous, sun-drenched beachscape.”
Alongside the painted works there are a selection of cards and signed prints available for purchase.
