200 years after its opening, the National Gallery, London is hosting the UK’s biggest ever Van Gogh exhibition and will be screened in Pembrokeshire at the Torch on Thursday 14 November.
Van Gogh is not only one of the most beloved artists of all time, but perhaps the most misunderstood. This film is a chance to better understand this iconic artist. Focusing on his unique creative process, Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers explores the artist’s years in the south of France, where he revolutionised his style. Van Gogh became consumed with a passion for storytelling in his art, turning the world around him into vibrant, idealised spaces and symbolic characters.
See up-close his ‘Starry Night over the Rhône’ (1888, Musée d’Orsay) and ‘The Yellow House’ (1888, Van Gogh Museum), as well as our own ‘Sunflowers’ (1888) and ‘Van Gogh's Chair’ (1889), among many others.
Directed by David Bickerstaff and produced by Phil Grabsky, the Exhibition on Screen film is showing at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven on Thursday, November 14 at 7pm. Call 01646 695267 or visit torchtheatre.co.uk .
