Near the end of this month, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum presents ‘Nature and Marine Energy in Focus’ at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven.
Held on November 27 at 7pm, the event will bring together leading voices from the marine energy sector, conservation groups, and the local community to discuss balancing renewable energy development with protecting natural habitats.
A panel of experts will explore the opportunities and challenges posed by marine renewable energy projects to local wildlife.
The evening will encourage open conversation, with an opportunity for the audience to ask the experts questions.
Hosted by David Tudor, Co-Founder of Ocean and Coastal Futures and Pelagos, the evening will include perspectives from The Crown Estate who lease the seabed for offshore wind projects.
Emma Williams, a marine biologist and freediving instructor with Celtic Deep, will give her insights into the marine life off our coast and why their protection is so important.
Also on the panel will be Joseph Kidd from Afallen, who can provide insights from marine energy projects and lessons learnt for future developments.
Nadia Tomsa from the Sea Trust will focus on marine conservation, research, and the role of local communities in safeguarding biodiversity, and Will Cooke from OWC will address consenting, monitoring and surveying practices that ensure responsible project development.
Admission is free, but seating is limited to 100.
This event is part of Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum’s Marine Energy Engagement Plan, a project designed to prepare our communities to thrive in a greener future.
The Plan, funded by Welsh Government’s Coastal Capacity Building Challenge Fund and UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, aims to empower local communities to be part of marine renewable energy in Pembrokeshire through education and information.
