Live firing on the range on Sundays continues to raise questions from members of the community in Penally.
In his recent report that went before members of Penally Community Council, Clr. Jon Preston the county councillor for the ward said that the range safety manager had been in contact with him to address many of the concerns.
Local councillors were recently informed that usage of the Penally camp would continue as it is a highly valued range, and that most of the use will be by cadets and some territorial units.
As the condition of the camp and range facilities have deteriorated and are to be upgraded during the next year, councillors have been told that this does not indicate increased usage in the future, which is expected to remain at its present level.
“I am pleased that the community council has invited the range safety manager to meet with the community council and I look forward to that meeting to enable us to clarify the matters raised by the Penally community,” said Clr. Preston.
