Post Office Ltd has announced plans to modernise Monkton Post Office.

Post Office area network manager for Wales, Sue Whittall, said: "I am delighted to announce news of an important investment in our service in Monkton. We know how important the Post Office service is to the community and we feel sure that our customers old and new will welcome the fresh design, modern open plan format and extended opening hours. This move will help secure Post Office services in the area for the future"

Ms Whittall, added: "Post Office Local is a new style of Post Office which sees Post Office services operated from an open plan counter in an established retailer, with a range of key Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during store opening hours."

Post Office customers in Monkton will benefit from a new, fully modernised branch with longer opening hours as Post Office products and services will be available 7 am - 11 pm Monday to Saturday and 8 am - 10.30 pm on Sunday.

Customers will be able to transact a wide range of Post Office services, including automated banking services, bill and budget payment schemes, Post Office card account, Postal Orders and postage; inland letters/packets (including Signed For and Special Delivery), inland parcels, international letters, small packets and printed papers.

"We have shared our plans with local customers and have asked them for their views on the new service," said Ms Whittall. "Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The customer engagement will close on January 28. The proposed date on which the new service will be introduced will be in February. It is envisaged that the branch may need to close for three days during February for the necessary refurbishment works to be completed. During this period, customers can access services at any Post Office branch, with the closest being Pembroke Post Office, 49 Main Street, Pembroke.
