A local councillor has once again questioned the location of a bus stop on a busy road out of Tenby.
A Pembrokeshire County Council scheme, which saw the introduction of a mini roundabout on the A4218/A478 Narberth Road, as part of a revised layout to improve the junction and pedestrian safety, was completed before Easter, but Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter queried at the time the positioning of the bus stop, believing it would cause more ‘hold ups’ and traffic congestion.
A spokesperson for the county council said that the bus stop plans had been ‘safety audited’ ahead of the scheme, and designed so that vehicles do not ‘pass the bus’.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Rossiter told her colleagues that there was now a bus shelter alongside the stop, stating that it would seem that the county council were happy with the arrangement, even though at times it clearly caused delays for motorists.
“A bus taking school children to Preseli the other day, waited at the stop for a good 10 to 20 minutes waiting for pupils,” she said, explaining that nobody could overtake there when buses did this.
Clr. Paul Rapi agreed that buses in no way should be stopping there for that length of time.
“They should be dropping-off or picking-up and moving on as soon as!” he said.
