MR. J. WICKLAND
OLDHAM
(formerly of Tenby)
The death occurred peacefully in Oldham, on Saturday, October 17, of Mr. John Wickland, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Palmer Wickland, formerly of Colonial Buildings, The Harbour, Tenby. He was 83.
Predeceased by his partner Jan, he is survived by her daughter Esther, his brother Desmond, of Tenby, and sister Enid, of Haverfordwest; also many nephews and nieces.
A member of a very old Tenby Harbour family, John was one of 10 children, five boys and five girls.
He worked as a projectionist at the Royal Playhouse Cinema, also skippered the pleasure boat ‘The Viking’, cruising around Caldey Island, and later worked on British Rail for many years, before retiring to Oldham.
Donations in John’s memory are for the RNLI.
Memorial service
As reported last week, a memorial service for former well-known local businessman, Mr. John Edward Cross, will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Tenby, tomorrow (Saturday).
John, who was 74, passed away on July 29 in Gran Canaria, where he had made his home since retirement.
Originally from Leeds, however, he had previously settled in Tenby and will be best remembered for establishing the business of Rembrandt Jewellers. He was also involved with many of the town’s organisations, including the Chamber of Trade.
The memorial service at St. Mary’s will take place at 12 noon, and the family invites all friends and former colleagues to join them in celebrating John’s life.
Mr. W. J. John

William John John, known as John, sadly passed away peacefully on October 18 at home with his family around him.
In his younger days, he was the Tenby postman, and went on to be the steward of many clubs, including the Black Rabbit in Pembroke the Conservative Club in Pembroke Dock and the Balfour in Haverfordwest with his wife Yvonne.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Yvonne, children Sara, Joanne and Chris, grandchildren Terri-Ann, Emily, Lydia, Jack, Roxanne, Holly, Kenzo, Storm, Nia, Eleri, great-grandchildren Thea, Oscar, Cindy, Violet, Lawton, Rose, daughter-in-law Julie, sisters Pam and Joyce, nieces Julie, Samantha, Lucy, Sara and Lisa, nephews David, Dai and Tony. Special thank you to Josh and Meirion.
The funeral service takes place on Tuesday, October 27, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 10.45 am.

As reported last week, the death occurred at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen, on October 13, of Brian Howell Thomas, of Park Terrace, Tenby.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, sons, Christopher and Mal and families.

The death occurred peacefully at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen, on Wednesday, October 14, of Mr. Austen John Collins, affectionately known as John, aged 87 years, of Wogan Lane, Saundersfoot.
Devoted husband of Margaret, dearly-loved dad of Paul and Debbie, respected father-in-law of Gillian and Angelo, cherished grandpa to Rob, Sam and Mia.

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, October 15, at Bush House Care Home, Pembroke, of Mrs. Gwladys Woodcock, aged 102 years, formerly of Penally. Sadly missed by her family and friends.

Kilgetty
The death of Mrs. Brenda Williams occurred peacefully at Redholme Memory Care Home, Liverpool, on Friday, October 16.
A native of Liverpool, Brenda moved to Pembrokeshire in 1977 with her husband Ken and children Gail, Gareth and Alan, settling near relatives in Kilgetty.
Brenda began her working life as a seamstress, a skill she maintained throughout most of her life. Her talent produced wedding dresses to upholstery and she was well-known for work she completed on several local hotel refurbishments. This talent extended to making matching Thunderbirds outfits for which her sons will be forever grateful.
Brenda was well known for her kind and caring nature, helping friends, neighbours and family whenever needed. Brenda loved to be surrounded by family and friends and was never happier than when her house was full of laughter and music. She ran a small bed and breakfast for many years, welcoming guests who returned year after year to sample Brenda’s wonderful home-cooking and legendary Sunday lunches.
Brenda loved to travel and over the years visited friends and relations as far afield as New Zealand, Australia and the US. When at home, she enjoyed a busy social life and having a life-long love of ballroom dancing, was an enthusiastic member of several clubs in the area.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband Ken in 2007, but is survived by her children Gail, Gareth and Alan, brother Dennis and sister-in-law Irene, son-in-law Tony, daughters-in-law Sarah and Ruth, grandchildren Helen, Phillip, Sam, Beth, Freya, Anna, Tom and Cara and great-granddaughter Megan. She will be sadly missed by us all.
The funeral will be held at Bethesda Chapel, Crane Cross, at 11.30 am, on Monday, October 26.

MILTON
The funeral took place at St. Mary’s Church, Carew Cheriton, on Tuesday, September 29, of Mr. Mark Griffiths, of Honeyspark Farm, Milton, whose death was reported in a previous issue.
Aged 40, Mark was the much-loved son of Ormond and Dorothy Griffiths, of Honeyspark Farm. He had been unwell for some time, but he never complained, and passed away peacefully at home on September 18.
Mark worked at home with his parents on the farm. He was a quiet, home-loving boy, who had a great interest in computers, music and television. He also enjoyed family holidays.
As well as his parents Ormond and Dorothy Griffiths, left to mourn are Mrs. Rita Miles (aunt), along with cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
Officiating at the funeral service, which was followed by interment in Carew Cheriton Cemetery, was the Rev. Carolyn Wood, while organist was Mrs. Sh. Lewis
