An event to raise funds for a Pembrokeshire hospital ward that supports patients with complex health and social needs is to be held at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel on Saturday, June 21. Organised by Dr. Gurjinder Bhari, of the Argyle Medical Group and lead GP of Sunderland Ward, South Pembs. Hospital, the first South Pembs. Bhangra Night will raise vital funds to assist in the purchase of specialist comfort beds for use on the hospital's rehabilitation and social care ward. Priced at £3,000 each, the beds will help patients - many of who have significant mobility issues due to strokes, fractures and operations as well as patients suffering with dementia - to get in and out of bed more safely and with greater ease. Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Bhari said: "We are delighted to be able to hold this exciting event at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel and we're very grateful for the significant support that the hotel has given to us. "The event is the first of its kind in the area and is set to be a night of fantastic food, entertainment and company, all in the name of a very deserving and needy local cause. "At present, there are 40 standard hospital beds in use on the ward. It is our aim that bit by bit we will be able to replace the beds with these specialist electric versions that will help to prevent falls, aid patient mobility and independence, as well as provide much-needed comfort to those most in need." Tickets for the event are priced at £30 per head and include Indian cuisine courtesy of multi-award winning Rasoi Indian Kitchen and music and entertainment provided by authentic Bhangra Dhol drummers, dancers and DJ. Tickets are available from the general office of the South Pembs. Hospital, the first floor of the Sealyham Block of Withybush Hospital and from the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. All profits from the event will go towards the purchase of the vital hospital beds.
