On Tuesday, May 19, a group of Probus members gathered at Heatherton Activities Centre, at St. Florence, to compete in their annual competition for a cup donated by the late Ron Brayford, a much-respected life member and past president.
This year's event was most ably organised by former club president and now secretary Robert Gorman, with four teams competing in archery, laser clay shooting, pistols and golf. Their day began with a strong wind blowing which luckily abated as the morning went on and all thoroughly entered into the spirit of the occasion.
At the end of the competition, the members retired to the Woodridge Inn, at Wooden, for lunch and the presentation of awards by vice-president Chris Langton.
The Ron Brayford Cup was awarded to David Holt, a regular winner at this event, while Mike Davies was in second place and Mac Thompson in third.
The new team shield, donated by club treasurer David Holt, was won by the yellow team, while the other teams red, orange and blue, were in close proximity.
The next club meeting of the Probus base at The Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Pembroke Dock, will see as the guest speaker the Police Commissioner for Dyfed Powys Christopher Salmon.
