A retrospective application for a new door at a Saundersfoot gallery has been approved by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

National Park members discussed the application at length, with legal concerns highlighted by a solicitor acting on behalf of objectors.

Apple Tree Gallery has been in business for 23 years, its owner Yvonne Mannings, told the development management committee on January 27, and putting a doorway on the west elevation would mean it was more visible to potential customers.

Saundersfoot Community Council objected to the application, as did residents nearby with concerns about highway and pedestrian safety, and concerns it would lead to residential use of the premises.

A previous application for alterations, extensions and change of use of the gallery was refused in September 2020 and a planning officer report to committee states “the applicant has indicated that they are not seeking permission to change the use of the gallery or for extension in this application.”

An additional window and two roof lights proposed in the west elevation have also been approved.
