The Tenby Project and friends met very early - 8am – and climbed into the Manorbier Community mini-bus to head off to Cardiff.
After a nice snooze on the way up, everyone was excited to get to Cardiff Bay and pull up right beside the Senedd.
After going through airport security to enter the building, a very friendly guide named Shay showed everyone where the toilets were (very important!) and then explained all about the building and the Senedd and how everything worked. He took the group into a committee room, and was surprised when Sam Kurtz came in and told everyone what it was like being a member of the Senedd. The group went into the main chamber and found out where everyone sat and how it all worked.
The tour ended upstairs where there was an exhibition of people with learning disabilities – with a few from Pembrokeshire - and a café. The poor café assistant had to run off down to the members café to get enough paninis and sandwiches for everyone, but was very welcoming and helpful.
Everyone headed over to the Pier house to see a film about the history of Cardiff Bay, and then wandered back to the minibus, and home. It was agreed that the visit on Monday, January 30 had been very successful and enjoyable.
This Monday, February 13, the Tenby Project will be running its coffee morning in Augustus Place Community Hall as usual and would love to see people there. In the afternoon, the local police are coming to visit, and everyone is welcome to come along to meet them if they would like to.
