Not just in Tenby, but across south west Wales, remembrance ceremonies have been held. The video clip shows the poppy wreaths left at the War Memorial, St John’s Church, Pembroke Dock.

Led by Standard Bearers and the town’s Mayor, and accompanied by a fire engine, a procession including many children from groups such as the Sea Scouts and the Beavers, made its way from Albion Square to the St John’s memorial. There standards were lowered, the bugle played and wreaths presented. A large crowd of onlookers was present.

Residents of that town will be pleased to learn that the clock at St John’s is now is “ticking away beautifully once more on all 4 clock faces and with the bell striking on the hour,” according to Church Warden Martin after working for four hours on Tuesday (November 14) with clockmaker Dan from Smiths of Derby.

Cllr Michele Wiggins attended the Pembroke Dock VC Gallery’s Ted Owens Hall naming ceremony on Saturday. She is now the proud owner of one of Mr Owen’s walking canes. Ted was World War II veteran who didn’t quite make it to his 99th birthday on August 12 this year. “What a lovely afternoon. It was lovely to see so many people supporting the gallery as it helps so many,” Cllr Wiggins said, thanking DJ Lionel Nutting, CEO Barry John, and Gloria for providing all the refreshments.

Senedd Member Samuel Kurtz described the performance of Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir at Monkton Priory Church on Friday evening as “magnificent”, thanking mayor Aden Brinn and the town council for the invitation. The concert, which found the choir in fine voice, was followed by a poignant service of remembrance.

Meanwhile in Carew, a large gathering assembled at the War Memorial, after which members of the Cresselly and District Branch of The Royal British Legion paid their respects at the war graves plot at Carew Cheriton cemetery.

A wreath from Whitland and Narberth Round Table was one of many presented at Whitland Memorial Hall during the town’s remembrance ceremonies.

Posting on his Facebook page, Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb said that he had laid a wreath at Haverfordwest and in the afternoon attended the service at Neyland where there is always a strong turnout from the town. Seren Taylor, of 7th Milford Haven Brownies, laid a wreath on his behalf at the Milford War Memorial.

Ladies from Neyland Ladies Choir marched to the Cenotaph in Neyland on Remembrance Sunday to lay the choir’s wreath at the service.

Milford Haven Junior Town Band proudly played at Johnston’s Remembrance Day service. It was their first time and they did a really great job.

Mr Crabb said it was “wonderful to see so many members of the public and community groups taking part in the Remembrance services across Pembrokeshire.”
