Nicole Evans, who is chair for the local RNLI Fund Raising Committee, told the audience the excellent work undertaken by everyone associated with RNLI here in Tenby.
She thanked the Choir, soloist Naomi Hunt and the Church for allowing the concert to take place but also all those that attended and contributing so generously towards this charity. Young people risk their lives to save others and help to keep all those who visit us safe, she added.
Tenby Male Choir has raised thousands of pounds over the years to help and support charities who ask them for help.
The Choir is a great platform for young talented musicians and Naomi Hunt was performing to help keep that tradition going.
Educated at Greenhill School, she graduated from Exeter University where she played with the University orchestra and is currently working for the Port of Milford Haven.
Accompanied by Mark Thompson on the piano Naomi played Meditation (Thais) by Jules Massenet in the first section and then the lovely Hejre Kati by Jeno Hubay in the section finishing off with the lively Danse Espagnole by Manuel de Falla.
The Mayor of Tenby – Councillor Tony Brown together with his wife was in the front row to hear the choir sing their usual programme of songs but included some like ‘Calm is the Sea’ and ‘Bring him Home’ to enrich the evening’s performance.
The audience really enjoyed the song ‘Diolch’ which has two choir members taking solo roles and then added ‘Morte Chrisitie’ at the finale as this is a firm favourite of David Phillips who is a great supporter of the choir.
Tenby Male Choir 2019 programme is gradually coming to an end but still features some interesting items. The talented pianist 12 year Elizabeth Morgan returns to perform on Thursday (September 12) and the choir will be part of the Tenby Arts Festival on September 26 both at St Mary’s Church with the final joint concert at St John’s Church on Saturday, October 5.
It’s been a busy season for the choir but if you have been unable to hear them this year then there are still a few concerts left to go along and enjoy.
