It has been a particularly busy summer for Tenby’s lifeboats, and equally busy for Tenby RNLI Fundraisers as they continue to raise money to help keep the lifeboats afloat.

Events included the Tenby Shop Challenge when local businesses were asked to put something not usually sold in their shops in their windows. Quiz sheets were sold and participants all agreed that it wasn’t as easy to spot the odd objects as they’d hoped. Winner was Evan Hill who won a voucher for Tenby RNLI shop. Thanks go to all the shop owners and staff who took great pleasure in finding the craziest objects they could.

Sea Sunday, thankfully, was one of the sunniest days of the summer. Committee members provided a mouth-watering array of cakes for Brew for the Crew on the Harbour. An ecumenical service of thanksgiving for all who work on the sea, whether saving lives or making a living, included members of all the Tenby churches and musical accompaniment was provided by the ever popular Salvation Army band. Thanks go to Tenby Sailing Club, and to Lisa and the crew for bringing the inshore lifeboat, the Kathleen Ann, as an added attraction on the harbour. Almost £500 was raised for funds.

Tenby RNLI Open Day dawned bright but windy and saw many visitors avail themselves of the opportunity of a guided tour of the Haydn Miller and the Lifeboat house and shop. Meanwhile committee members were busy organising the Build a Boat competition on the Castle Beach. The families who took part had a great time, particularly the dads. Mayor of Tenby, Cllr Dai Morgan had the unenviable task of judging, the winner was Titanic, complete with iceberg, built by Madoc, Ioan and Mabli with some input from Dad. Locals and visitors had fun, joining forces to support the RNLI.

This timetable of summer events ends next Friday, September 13, 7.30pm when regular Tenby RNLI supporters Tenby Male Choir join Bella Voce to ‘Sing to Save Lives’ in a Gala Concert at St Mary’s Church, Tenby - a fabulous way to end a summer of fundraising.
