The January meeting of Summerhill WI was chaired by Marlene who gave New Year’s Greetings to members.
Apologies were noted with thanks given to Hilary for the lovely plant on the top table and to all the ladies for the fantastic amount of goods donated for PATCH.
January is a very busy month for birthdays with greetings given to Marlene, Hilary, Margaret, Linnia, Sue Evans, Nikki and Joanne.
The minutes were read, along with the Federation Letter, before the correspondence was dealt with and the financial statement given. Everyone agreed that the festive meeting on December 11 had been a lovely evening with plenty of food and an excellent chocolate tasting demonstration.
The 2024 programme was distributed and Marlene took names of those interested in the March 9 visit to the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.
Members were handed voting forms for the 2024 Resolutions and following discussions decisions were made which will be forwarded to WI House.
With no further business and with the speaker unfortunately unable to attend due to family commitments, refreshments were served by Ruth, Hilary and Linnia and social time followed. Marlene read a poem, Linda did a quiz and Jane gave an excellent recitation of a Black Country poem in the authentic old dialect.
The next meeting will be on Monday February 12 in Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill at 7pm when there will be a bead class with Carol Langston; hostesses to be Eirianwen, Nikki and Margaret.
