Tenby Library is taking part in this year’s Great Big Green Week; they also have some new books in stock and a programme of children’s events.
Big Green Week runs from June 10-18 and is an opportunity for people living in villages, towns and cities to come together to demand positive action on climate change and the loss of nature around us.
Thousands of events are held around the country and one of them is Letters to Tomorrow. People write letters to their future selves or loved ones, and these are collected together and sent to national leaders to demonstrate the strength of feeling individuals have about protecting the people and places they love from climate change.
The Letters can be written and submitted online at www.letterstotomorrow.com, alternatively, physical letters can be written and brought to Tenby Library where staff will help with sending it to the site. Copies of the guidance sheet are available at the library; please read it before writing your letter.
The Book Bingo event is now finished so please return your Bingo cards to the library, with your name and library card number on them, for a chance of winning a book token.
New fiction in this month includes the long-awaited ‘Atlas: the Story of Pa Salt’ by Lucinda Riley, the culmination of her Seven Sisters series.
There are also new novels in hardback by Anna Jacobs and Sheila O’Flanagan.
New books in non-fiction include ‘4 Steps to a Happier, Healthier You’ by Tess Daly, ‘Adrift: the Curious Case of the Lego Lost at Sea’ by Tracey Williams, ‘I’m Not as Well as I Thought I Was’ by Ruby Wax, and ‘Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth I’ by Tracy Borman.
Regular events for children are still going on. Baby Rhyme Time is on at 10.30-11am on Mondays during term-time; there is no need to book; just turn up and enjoy some songs and stories. Lego Club is on every Friday 3-4.30pm, term-time and holidays, in the Hall; just drop in, stay for a short time or longer while, make something and leave when you’re ready. The creations are on display in the library for two weeks.
Food waste bags are freely available at the library on request; also a supply of the recycling boxes and bags. If you need more grey bags for general waste, contact the Council on 01437 764551 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm or email [email protected].
