A project that saw pupils and parents come together to produce a vibrant new mega-mosaic at one of Tenby’s primary schools has been described as a source of pride to the town for years to come.

The colourful mosaic on the main facade of the Tenby Church in Wales VC Primary School on Heywood Lane, has now been unveiled after the school summer holidays, after staff, pupils, parents and members of the public worked with ‘Springboard - Learning Pembrokeshire’ and local artist Paul Webb to complete the ambitious artistic design.

The school’s headteacher John Palmer said that the mosaic project, which was funded project was funded by Big Lottery, Awards for All - was something that they’d had in mind since opening the school, when they realised that the large roadside facade was going to be a very stark and plain feature.

“Although we were excited to see the finished mosaic I think our expectations have been well and truly exceeded!” said Mr. Palmer.

“Thanks to parents, staff, our talented children, members of the community, our artist Paul Webb, Pembrokeshire County Council’s Springboard officers and the Big Lottery, we surely have one of the most striking pieces of public artwork in Tenby, if not Pembrokeshire!

“Our school logo is unmistakably Tenby through and through, so what better image for passers-by to enjoy. We want this fabulous artwork to put a smile on the faces of everyone who travels past our school for many years to come.

“I hope the mosaic will be a source of pride to the town for years to come,” he added.
