Tenby’s Poppy Pebble Trail, which was introduced last year after the Covid pandemic, was extended this year to include more uniformed organisations and children from local schools.

The idea of the Trail, created by Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, is to enable youth organisations and young people to have their own opportunity to mark Remembrance in their own way. Young People have painted pebbles with images of Poppies and with the names of those who lost their lives on the back. The pebbles were placed outside St. Mary’s Church following a brief service attended by over 60 young people and their parents on Saturday. There was a talk from the Rector of St. Mary’s, Canon Andrew Grace and readings from members of the Guides and the Sea Cadets. This event, which will be ongoing and expanded, is part of the plans for the Youth Forum for Tenby.

Cllr Skyrme-Blackhall said: “A huge thank you to all the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Sea cadets, Army cadets and everyone else who made our second pebble poppy trail such a wonderful occasion. The children were so involved and had such a good understanding of why we commemorate remembrance wonderful readings and beautifully painted poppies.

“Thank you to our Rector for allowing us again to use the church grounds for the pebbles,” she added.
