Whitland Town Council elected their Mayor and Chair for the coming year in their meeting that was held on Tuesday, along with the Deputy Chair.
Clr. Barry Chapman appointed Chair and Mayor for Whitland, with Clr. Richard Davies as his Deputy.
Clr. Chapman is looking forward to working with the Town and County Council to promote Whitland, it’s history and heritage as part of the Carmarthenshire Town of Culture 2019.
“I welcome visitors new and old to share and enjoy our market town,” he said.
“Whitland, in ages past, was the centre of Welsh Law making with Hywel Dda codifying the very first laws for Wales here on the banks of the River Taf.
“The Town Council is publishing a brochure packed with information about the Town which is kindly supported by local businesses and retailers.
“This will be a fantastic reference for all ages and includes the town’s new yellow play map and a calendar of events.
“I look forward to working with all during this exciting year,” added Clr. Chapman.
