How I wish I was mobile enough to take a stroll down Sergeants Lane!
On reading plans for the historic lane, I wondered how my ancestors would react to seeing how it has changed since they brought the family here from County Waterford more than 200 years ago.
Obviously it mut have been one of Tenby’s poorest parts but the Carews were presumably good workers as by the end of the 1800s my great uncle William Carew was owner of the butcher’s shop on the High Street and was living at 5 Belle Vue, and apparently about 1909 my mother had her tonsils removed on the dining room table - and when she came-to, she could hear the band playing on the North Beach!
