Saundersfoot had an emphatic 97 runs win over Division Three leaders Llechryd in the final of the Tavernspite Garden Centre Alan Brown Cup played at Whitland.
On the day, Llechryd were outplayed in all aspects of the game and Saundersfoot’s left arm ‘Chinamen’ bowler Tom Mansbridge, a highly talented 14-year-old, was nominated man of the match by adjudicator Paul Webb.
Saundersfoot scored 138-8 in the first innings of 20 overs, with opener Paul Mansbridge scoring 44no, skipper Sam Franklin 31 and Danny Caine 21no.
In reply, Llechryd were held to 108-8, despite an innings of 50 by skipper John Curran, as the youngest Mansbridge created havoc in the Llechryd camp with a 4-20 spell and his older brother John took 2-14.
A 30 runs first innings lead extended to 183 in the second innings as Saundersfoot scored 153-5. Sam Franklin scored 36, Paul Mansbridge 34, James Caine 24, with John Mansbridge and Nick Cope chipping in with 21 apiece.
John Curran took 3-19 for Llechryd, who were bowled out for only 86 in the second innings as Danny Caine took 3-17, Tom Mansbridge 2-17 and Neil Powling 2-10.
Rhys Beard with 20 and skipper Curran with 15 were the only batsmen offering resistance to the Seasiders with their sizzling all round display.
Saundersfoot will now target promotion back to Division Two and are in a good position to mount a challenge in the early weeks of the second half of the season.
