Pembroke First XV travelled to Aberaeron; the weather was wet and the ground very heavy. 

Both teams sat one under the other in the League before the start, so the visitors knew they would be in for a tough battle. The home side made a big statement scoring a well crafted, converted try after only five minutes. Despite good work by their forwards the visitor’s backs failed to penetrate a determined defence and a yellow card after twenty minutes put them on the back foot, whilst the home side dominated possession and territory and scored three more converted tries to lead at the break 24-0. 

The visitors toiled hard in the second half, but the home defence remained solid, whilst their speedy backs exploited the good work of their forwards and numerous mistakes by the visitors to score four more well taken tries, without reply to win 57-0. 

Referee Simon Harries praised both sides for the quality of their play and after the final whistle he and the Pembroke coaching group paid tribute to the home side for their commanding performance.

The First XV are due to take on Neyland home on November 11 and then St Davids home on November 18, when the teams will be contesting the first leg for the “Willington Slate” trophy played in memory of past player Gareth “Spike” Willington and his son Daniel, the family will be collecting donations for the Fisherman’s Mission. 

Throughout November the  First XV squad are raising funds to support the work of leading charity Movember. Anyone wanting to make donations to support the players can do so by a “Giving Page” on social media.

The Panthers travelled to Porthcawl on Sunday last; despite losing 30-10, there were a lot of positives and three players made impressive debuts. They play Tondu home on Sunday KO 2.30pm. 

The squad received confirmation last week that Holyhead had conceded the fixture in Round 2 of the WRU National Women’s Bowl competition. Two of the players currently playing hail from Venezuela, Bel HD has been with the squad for two seasons and Marialejandra has very recently joined and is really enjoying the challenge of a new sport.

Disappointingly, the Youth match in Aberystwyth was cancelled by the home team early Saturday morning.

The Ladies Committee Christmas Fayre will take place on Sunday November 19, 11am-5pm, everyone is welcome to come along for some festive fare. 

The first Winter Quiz will be on Friday December 8 starting at 7.15pm for teams of 4-6. The weekly Turkey Trots continue, with tickets on sale in Pembroke pubs and the clubhouse. 

Every first Monday evening per month there is Bingo at the club, starting at 7pm.
