Two local Tenderfoot Teams competed in the annual Welsh Disabled Sports Team Championships at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. They emulated their 2019 third position, with the other local team of Fishguard Thunderbolts pipping them to second place by only one point.
Team Captain for the Tenderfoot Team David Phillips (Pentlepoir) set the standard for the day being top scorer in the Target Golf along with fellow competitors Bethan McCarthy (Saundersfoot) and Angie Richards (Broad Haven). David Phillips also won the Table Tennis with fellow team member James Dash (Narberth). Tenderfoot Too Team also won the Static Rowing Competition with team members Geraint Lewis (Pentlepoir) Sam MacCreath (Redberth) and Wayne Llewellyn (Llandisillio).
Other notable achievements came from Tenderfoot Too Team Captain Gareth Phillips (Pentlepoir) in the Table Tennis, Francis Corbett (Narberth) and Josh George (Rosemarket) in the Shot Putt, George MacCreath (Redberth) and Daniel Pullin (Rosemarket) in the Football Shoot-out, Jonathan Hubbard (Kilgetty) in the Pool, John Richards (Broad Haven) and Marion Haymer (Broadmoor) in New Age Kurling and Jack Woods (Rosemarket) in Weightlifting.
To round off another successful Championship for the Tenderfoot Teams, once again one of the team members was awarded the Male Sports Personality.
The Tenderfoot Teams are solely sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Saundersfoot and Tenby, assistance in transporting of competitors from the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland, thirty six travelled up on the day to compete and support the teams which included members from the Wisemans Bridge Rowing Club who ran the static Rowing Competition
Team Managers Rotarians Charles Hopkinson and John Walker-Smith of the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot were pleased to be back competing following Covid and proud of the achievements of their teams and the commitments shown both on the day and throughout the year during training.
