The Tenby RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched shortly before 5pm on Sunday, September 1, following a report that people were cut off by the incoming tide on rocks below the Imperial Hotel.

The volunteer crew was quickly on scene. Crew members were assisted by the RNLI lifeguards in what would turn out to be their final joint shout together, before the lifeguards finished on the beaches later in the day.

With nobody found, the lifeboat crew spoke to some swimmers in the area who confirmed that the people had managed to get ashore themselves and were last seen heading up the steps into town.

With nobody left in danger, all units stood down, with the lifeboat returning to station.
