We’re delighted to share the news that Kieran Thomas has come away from the Welsh Apprentice Butcher of the Year competition with a gold medal!
Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock market butcher Albert Rees made the proud announcement on their Carmarthen Deli Facebook page this evening (January 23):
“We are bursting with pride to share that Kieran, our talented apprentice, has been awarded 2nd place in the Welsh Apprentice Butcher of the Year competition! The competition was so incredibly close that the judges awarded both 1st and 2nd place a gold medal – a true testament to Kieran’s skill and dedication!”
The competition was part of the Culinary Association of Wales’ Welsh International Culinary Championships, held at the incredible ICC Wales at Celtic Manor.
“Congratulations to Ollie from Neil Powell - Master Butchers on taking the top spot,” added the Carmarthen-based family butcher, “and to Wayne Barnard for winning bronze in the Welsh Chef of the Year competition with Carmarthen Ham featuring strongly on his menu – what an amazing achievement all around!
“It’s moments like these that remind us how much talent and passion exists in our industry. We couldn’t be prouder of Kieran – cadwa 'mlaen gyda'r gwaith da!*”
