SECRETARY Lyn Lawson opened a well-attended Annual Meeting of Kilgetty WI on November 12 which included an interesting overview of the year, recalling many good speakers and varied interactive evenings which had been enjoyed by members.
Monica was wished a happy birthday.
Child of Hope charity were given a donation of £200 to help with schooling for children. A letter of thanks was read by Sylvia. Also a donation of £50 was sent to ACWW, supporting women in Africa.
Summerhill WI have sent an invitation for their Christmas get together on Friday, December 6, 2-4pm. Three members said they would be attending the PFWI Annual meeting on November 16.
Members were encouraged to wear a white ribbon on November 18 to show support for White Ribbon Day, in opposition to violence against women.
Sylvia Wright reported on the finances and donations for the year. Items of interest in the WI monthly newsletter were highlighted and discussed including the rosebowl, Anything Goes and Buy Nothing Day. Members then chose from the menu for the forthcoming Christmas meal at the Begelly Arms.
Monica Thomas read out president Anne Pugh’s report in her absence, reminiscing on the events of a very varied year and thanking each and every one of the committee for all of their hard work. Anne has now stepped down as president and is sadly leaving Kilgetty WI due to moving house. WI members will really miss her and all wish her the best of luck in her new home and new adventures.
A new committee was elected and assigned their respective jobs for the year.
Social time followed with cake and coffee/tea.
Sarah Beresford won the competition for the best motto for the year 2025 with ‘Smile, you might change someone’s day’. 2nd was Penny Brace; 3rd Lyn Lawson.
Monica Thomas won the raffle.
The next meeting will be at midday on December 10 at the Begelly Arms for the Christmas meal.
