TENBY camera club has been enjoying a spring full of learning, activity and competition.

On March 20, the club held a workshop where many techniques of photography were practised. A studio was set up with lighting and backdrops to try portrait photography.

Members were grateful to the volunteer models - Katie Rose Whitehurst, Mark Perkins and Michael Cruise - who did a brilliant job posing with all sorts of props from a saxophone, microphone, books and hats.

There was a set up for techniques to capture water droplets on threads to look like jewels with stunning reflections and oil bubbles with different backdrops. Macro skills were also shown, post production with Lightroom and Photoshop, mobile phone photography help and general photographic advice, thanks to those who shared their extensive expertise to help fellow members.

Dave Astins, of West Coast Birdwatching, captivated a packed room of members and guests on March 27. Dave is a dedicated and knowledgeable ornithologist who can fascinate his audience with great photography. It was a treat to see so many images showing all the species of birds to be found around the Pembrokeshire coast and Islands such as Skomer, Skokholm, Grassholm and Ramsey. The club appreciated this interesting and informative talk.

The last of the Open Competitions for this season was held on April 3 with a good attendance . There were 36 digitals and 16 prints entered covering a cross section of genres from nature , street, sport, landscapes, creative and travel. Judge for the evening was Ian Ledyard, who spent time giving his personal take on the images presented to him. Well done to everyone who entered and congratulations to the Award winners.
