The death of Honey Foxx French, aged 12, at her Milford Haven home continues to touch the community as police open a full investigation.
At a service at Hubberston on Sunday, November 3, many of the prayers offered were for the family and friends of Honey, who has been described by her school Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi VA as a “much loved and cherished by all who knew her” and a “valued member of our school community.”
“She was a keen performer and writer who gave generously of her humour, time and talents to support our school family and wider community – and she will be very much missed.”
Police and the ambulance service were called to the house at Hakin at 10.25am over concerns for the welfare of a child, but despite the best efforts of the paramedics, Honey was pronounced dead at the scene at 11.50am. Her family described it as a ‘game gone wrong’ with the police initially stating that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
On learning of her passing on October 19, the Mayor, Councillors, and Town Council staff said they were “so sorry and so saddened to learn of the passing of Honey Foxx French,” and extended their deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
The inquest was opened at Haverfordwest on Wednesday, October 30. Coroner’s officer Carrie Sheridan told the inquest a post-mortem examination was carried out at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen where the cause of death was unknown.
Assistant coroner Gareth Lewis passed on his condolences to Honey’s family. He adjourned the inquest to allow for further investigation.
A provisional date for the next hearing has been set for April 10, 2025.
A GoFundMe fundraising page set up to support her family has raised over £4,500, with organiser Kimberley Joyce writing: “Alan, Jessica and the boys tragically lost the youngest and brightest star of their family.
“As they try to navigate their way through this time, I would like to set up this page to help assist them financially so they do not have to worry about the cost of anything, while they deal with having to make funeral arrangements for their only daughter.
“Thank you to everyone who has donated towards this fundraiser. All of your help is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. Thank you for supporting them through this time. May our beautiful Honey rest in peace”
